Dr. Carter graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1996 and received her medical degree from UT Southwestern School of Medicine in 2001, where she was awarded the Rolland Reynolds Award for the medical student with the best bedside manner. After devoting a year to teaching public health while establishing a medical clinic in Peru, Dr. Carter completed her internship and residency at UT Southwestern and was board certified in Internal Medicine in 2005. Following training, Dr. Carter joined the UT Southwestern faculty, where she divided her time between serving as a consultant to surgical sub-specialists caring for complicated post-operative patients, teaching medical students and residents on the wards of Parkland Hospital, and seeing patients in the outpatient setting. In 2006 she made the decision to leave academic medicine to pursue her passion for primary care. She joined the esteemed internal medicine group, the Harvill-Tschumy Clinic at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. In 2011, Dr. Carter began practicing concierge medicine as part of the E. Barrow Medical Group, the first concierge internal medicine group in Dallas. She established the CC:MD Concierge Medical Team in 2022.
